Grade One Online Science Class: Hands-On Plant Learning

Grade One Online Science Class students are officially back and busy, and we are excited to welcome everyone into a brand-new year of learning. Happy New Year to our wonderful students, parents, and families! During the third marking period, our Grade One Online Science Class focused on exploring the characteristics of plants, helping students understand what makes plants living things and how they survive in their environments. Through engaging online lessons, visuals, and discussions, students built a strong foundation in plant science while developing observation and critical thinking skills.

A special part of the Grade One Online Science Class is the leadership of Ms. Deb, a retired teacher from the United States who generously volunteers her time twice a week to support students through live online science sessions for their Practical Application. Her experience, patience, and passion for teaching create a warm and engaging learning environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions and share ideas. Ms. Deb’s commitment to giving back makes a meaningful difference in the lives of our young learners and strengthens the quality of our online science program!

One of the highlights of this unit was a hands-on plant hunt practical, where students were asked to explore their surroundings and identify how different plants protect themselves. Students observed features such as thorns, thick or waxy leaves, strong stems, and other natural defenses, then recorded and shared their findings during class. This real-world activity helped bring science to life and showed students that learning extends beyond the screen. With curiosity, creativity, and strong guidance, our Grade One Online Science Class is off to a fantastic start this New Year, and we look forward to many more exciting discoveries ahead. 🌱✨
